GODS WILL TO HEAL -
Commissioned to minister God’s Healing

The Prophet

Genesis 20:1-18 First recorded healing was for Abimelech and his wife, and his maidservant by Araham standing in the office of a prophet to minister healing on the behalf of God according to verse 7.
2nd Healing was for Sarah to have Isaac according to Genesis 21:1-3 method was Spoken Word of God in faith, Prayer (communion) between God and Abraham Genesis 15:1-6 and 17:15-22

3rd Healing was when Isaac prayed for his wife Rebekah to give birth and she conceived, for she was barren according to Genesis 25:21-24. Method was prayer (Spoken Word)
Exodus 15:26 God gives redemptive Name to Moses (Jehovah-Rapha) “I AM the Lord that healeth thee” At this time Moses was standing in the office of a Prophet of God.

Deuteronomy 18:15 states that Moses stood in the office of a prophet so he could pray to God for his healing power to be manifested for God’s people, Moses was doing the speaking.
Example: Numbers 12:5-15 Miriam stricken with leprosy and Moses prays for her healing and she was healed without using her faith.

Example: Numbers 21:5-9 Moses commanded to make serpent of brass upon a pole so that all that looked upon it were healed. This worked because God said do it. The Lord did this to get the people to look up at Jesus rather than looking down at the fiery circumstances of serpents. This could also minister to a multitude of people at one time.
1 Kings 17:17-24 Elijah the prophet raises a child from the dead, a widow woman of Zidon. Method laying across his body and prayer unto God.

2 Kings 4:11-17 Elisha the prophet speaks words of faith over the woman of Shunem to have a child and the woman conceived according to the time of life. Method – Spoken Word of faith.

2 Kings 4:18-37 Elisha the prophet raises a young man from the dead of the same Shunem woman. Method Prayer unto God first then laying across his body.

2 Kings 5:1-14 Elisha the prophet recovers Naaman of his leprosy. Method spoken Word of Faith with acts of obedience.

2 Kings 20:1-11 Isaiah the prophet speaks the Word of Faith over Hezekiah with medical instructions to heal a boil and Hezekiah the King recovers.

The Priest

Before the Law of Moses it was revealed that our Lord is our Healer according to Exodus 15:26 and in the Law of Moses it was revealed that “God will take sickness away from the midst of thee” in Exodus 23:25,26. Therefore the prophet Moses, the priest and even the Levites are encouraged to pray for those who are sick when a believer comes to them in faith. Since the will of God is revealed to the children of Israel the Prophet, the Priest and the Levites are commissioned by God to uphold His Will.

Malachi 2:4-7
4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. KJV

Anointed to minister in the Priest Office
Numbers 3:1-9 Verse 3 Aaron sons, anointed to minister in the priest office and the tribe of Levi also chosen to minister unto the priest and the charge of the whole congregation of the Children of Israel.
As Physicians

In the Law of Moses the Priest could pronounce who was clean (healed) similar to what doctors do today.
Leviticus 13:13
Then the priest shall consider: and, behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce him clean that hath the plague: it is all turned white: he is clean. KJV

Leviticus 13:28
And if the bright spot stay in his place, and spread not in the skin, but it be somewhat dark; it is a rising of the burning, and the priest shall pronounce him clean: for it is an inflammation of the burning. KJV

Leviticus 13:37
But if the scall be in his sight at a stay, and that there is black hair grown up therein; the scall is healed, he is clean: and the priest shall pronounce him clean. KJV
As a confirmation of your prayer to God in faith for all areas including healing
1 Samuel 1:9-20 Hannah uses her faith to ask a godly petition of God and Eli confirms this request in verse 17.

Hebrews 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; KJV
Since the priest is an intercessor, he does not pray against your will he only takes your petition to God, to represent you before the Father God. If you have not faith in God’s healing power, it is not the function of the priest to pray for your healing. Thus, the priest is not often referenced as a minister of healing but rather a confirmation of healing. Notice the next two reference verses:
Matthew 8:4
And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. KJV

Luke 17:12-14 Ten lepers cleansed as they went to show themselves to the priests.
The priest as doctors and physicians did not usually minister God healing power but rather confirmed the results or encouraged the person coming to them to believe God for His Healing Power through prayer or teaching of God’s Word which is His Will.

The King

2 Samuel 24:17-25 King David prays to God for the plague coming on the Children of Israel and the Lord sends the Prophet Gad to give David instructions to build an altar and the plague was stayed from Israel.

2 Chronicles 30:17-21 King Hezekiah prays for those that were unclean and the Lord hearkens to this prayer and heals the people.

It seems that the King though given the Anointing of God rarely used this power for healing another person but rather would defer to a prophet because typically the prophet of God usually was associated with manifesting the miraculous power of God, including healing when necessary. Notice the following verses:
1 Kings 14:1-3
1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.
2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.
3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child. KJV

2 Kings 5:6-8
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8 And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. KJV
This Anointing of God that was given to the King for the manifestation of the Power of God was not given to the king in vain. If the King chose to ignore God’s Ways and His Power it brought a stiffer penalty of judgement, as was the case with King Asa:
2 Chronicles 16:12 King Asa was diseased in his feet, and he sought not the Lord, but the physicians for his healing. Thus, he died in rebellion against a Seer of God (A Prophet of God) which is likened unto rebellion against God in verse 10 and King Asa oppressed some of the people. He also as a King relied upon the arm of the flesh instead of God and this was discouraged by God in verse 7-9.

The Anointing Oil of God was poured upon these three offices, the Prophet, the Priest and the King to give them the added supernatural ability to hear from God and perform their calling. Thus, enabling them to speak on God’s behalf. This is our New Testament type of being Anointed by the Holy Spirit of God to preach, teach, prophesy and minister in the Power of God. Notice in the New Testament Jesus came on the scene with the Anointing of the Holy Spirit and He immediately started ministering in the power of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ

Remember Jesus walked the earth as a man anointed by God, this gave Him the power to heal people, it was not because He Is The Son of God or God Himself. Since Jesus was called by God to set people free He was empowered by God to heal.

Luke 4:14-19
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. KJV

Luke 6:17-19
18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. KJV

Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. KJV

In the New Testament Jesus ministers God’s Healing and also commands His chosen disciples to minister this same power in His Name.

The twelve disciples (Apostles of the Lamb)

Matthew 10:1-8
1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. KJV

7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. KJV

Mark 6:7,12,13
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;

12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. KJV

Luke 9:1-6
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. KJV

The Apostle Paul

Acts 14:8-10
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. KJV

Acts 19:11-12
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. KJV

The Apostles Paul and Barnabas

Acts 13:46 and 14:3
13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. KJV

Ministers

Additional seventy (70) disciples
Luke 10:1-17
1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. KJV
Philip the Evangelist according to Acts 21:8
Acts 8:5-7
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. KJV
The Elders of the church
Acts 6:5-6
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. KJV

James 5:13-15 The elders of the church are encouraged to anoint with oil those that call for them in the Name of Lord Jesus.

Disciples in General

An unknown disciple
Mark 9:38-40
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part. KJV

Luke 9:49-50
49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. KJV
Them that believe
Mark 16:15-20
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18.They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. KJV
A known disciple
Acts 9:10-18
10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
11 And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,
12 And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. KJV
